Job Description:
Reporting to the Project Manager who is responsible for the project/assignment and performs construction, topographic, hydrographic, boundary, right-of-way, control, and special purpose surveys for a client or in support of any of the various technical services of the company. Must be willing to travel to project locations in Texas or other areas of the United States.
- Ensures that all members of his survey crew conduct themselves in a professional manner and presents a responsible, positive attitude to the public.
- Interacts with internal and external client representatives in a professional manner
- Coordinates with Project Manager, Chief of Parties and project personnel for daily crew
- Coordinates with office support staff on a regular basis to ensure project goals are met under budget and in a timely manner
- Ensures, through daily inspection, that the survey vehicles have an adequate supply of equipment and materials for the day's operations.
- Supervises, manages, and mentors subordinate field survey personnel in the performance of their assignments.
- Scribes neat and accurate field notes to serve as a permanent record of the survey work performed.
- Performs the necessary calculations to close level loops, to provide field checks on the angular closure of a field traverse, etc.
- Applies knowledge of plane trigonometry and plane coordinate computations to field survey problems
- Interprets fractional and metes and bounds legal descriptions.
- Performs such other duties as the Chief of Parties may deem necessary
- HS diploma is required
- 5 years' project experience required in the field of Surveying
- A thorough understanding of all surveying roles and best practices
- A thorough understanding of safety precautions and the ability to follow and enforce SSSP related to the project
- Good communication and leadership skills
- Good troubleshooting abilities
- Ability to make good decisions quickly and provide alternate solutions in times of problem
- Must be well organized and systematic in working.
- Proficient with MS Word and Excel.
- Ability to work autonomously and to collaborate fully as a team player.
- Ability to pay close attention to details, and present good planning, organization, and time management skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment and willingness to assume additional or new responsibilities
- Ability to maintain regular attendance as per work schedule agreed with manager (may require working an adjusted work schedule based on project assigned and work overtime if warranted).
- Ability to comply with applicable laws and regulations and Company policies and procedures.
- Ability to read graphic instructions, read construction plans and specifications
