Job Summary
Perdue Janitorial Services is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented In-House Accountant to manage and oversee the financial operations of the company. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, a comprehensive understanding of accounting principles, and the ability to handle multiple financial responsibilities, including bookkeeping, payroll, and financial reporting. This role is critical to ensuring the company’s financial health and compliance with regulations while supporting overall business growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Bookkeeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including journal entries, general ledger reconciliations, and transaction documentation.
- Accounts Payable and Receivable: Process invoices, track payments, and ensure timely collection of receivables while maintaining relationships with vendors and clients.
- Payroll Management: Prepare and process employee payroll, ensuring accurate calculations, tax withholdings, and compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports for management review.
- Budget Management: Assist in creating and monitoring budgets, analyzing variances, and providing recommendations for cost control.
- Tax Preparation: Maintain records for tax filings and coordinate with external tax professionals or prepare company taxes, ensuring compliance with state and federal tax laws.
- Compliance and Audits: Ensure compliance with financial regulations and conduct internal audits to verify accuracy and adherence to policies.
- QuickBooks Management: Manage financial data in QuickBooks, including expense tracking, bank reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Forecasting and Analysis: Provide financial analysis and forecasts to assist management in strategic decision-making.
- Policy Development: Develop and update financial policies and procedures to streamline processes and ensure accuracy.
- Record Maintenance: Maintain organized records for all financial activities, including receipts, statements, and reports.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
- Experience: 3 years of experience in accounting, preferably in a service-based business; prior experience with QuickBooks is highly preferred.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficient in QuickBooks, Microsoft Excel, and other accounting software.
- Strong understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
- Familiarity with payroll software and processes.
- Organizational Skills: Exceptional attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills for reporting and collaboration.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to analyze financial data and provide actionable insights to improve financial performance.
- Discretion: Ability to handle sensitive financial information with the highest level of confidentiality.
Additional Information
- Work Environment: Office-based with occasional collaboration with other departments and vendors.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to sit for extended periods while working on financial systems and reviewing reports.
- Schedule: Full-time, Monday through Friday, with occasional flexibility based on business needs.
