Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Certified Peer Specialist to join our team. This role is designed for individuals who have personal experience with mental health or substance use challenges and are committed to supporting others on their recovery journey. The Certified Peer Specialist will provide guidance, encouragement, and support to individuals facing similar challenges, helping them navigate their paths toward wellness and recovery.

Duties

  • Provide one-on-one peer support to individuals in recovery from mental health or substance use disorders.
  • Utilize personal experiences to foster trust and rapport with clients, promoting a safe environment for open communication.
  • Assist clients in developing coping strategies and skills through motivational interviewing and crisis intervention techniques.
  • Facilitate group sessions focused on recovery topics, sharing insights and encouraging participation.
  • Collaborate with behavioral health professionals to create comprehensive support plans tailored to individual needs.
  • Mentor clients in setting achievable goals and navigating community resources, including social services and support groups.
  • Engage in crisis management as needed, providing immediate support during challenging situations.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of client interactions and progress in accordance with organizational policies.

Requirements

  • Certification as a Peer Specialist or equivalent credential is required.
  • Demonstrated experience in behavioral health, addiction counseling, or mental health counseling preferred.
  • Strong understanding of crisis management techniques and the ability to intervene effectively during crises.
  • Excellent mentoring skills with the ability to inspire hope and resilience in others.
  • Proficiency in motivational interviewing techniques to facilitate client engagement.
  • Knowledge of social work principles and systems that support mental health recovery.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to connect with diverse populations.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in all interactions.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.02 - $19.03 per hour

  • 10 hour shift

Ability to Relocate:

  • Albuquerque, NM 87108: Relocate before starting work (Required)
