We are seeking a Senior Branch Controller to join our Washington DC 566 branch located in Ashburn, VA. This dynamic role combines financial controllership responsibilities with strategic financial planning and analysis (FP&A) to support the growth of our company in the specialty construction industry. This position must partner and communicate with the local and regional executive team and lead the financial operations for one of the largest markets within the company.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)
Lead the development and management of the branch’s annual budget, monthly forecasts and overall financial planning process.
Manage the strategic financial vision of the branch and be the knowledge expert on the overall financial direction, both short-term and long-term.
Provide in-depth analysis of financial performance and profitability by identifying trends, risks and opportunities within assigned markets.
Partner with project managers and branch leadership to assess the financial impact of ongoing and future projects.
Continuously add value to company and branch leadership by providing financial insights into strategic decision making (e.g., capital assets and other investment decisions).
Collaborate with branch departments (Operations, Estimating and Administration) to ensure alignment on financial and operational goals.
Financial Controls
Manage internal controls and best practices to mitigate financial risk, in adherence to company policies.
Oversee day-to-day financial operations for the branch, ensuring accuracy in all financial reporting.
Ensure the completeness, accuracy and timeliness of financial statements and subledgers.
Effectively manage the cash flow and assets of the branch.
Ensure proper cost tracking for projects, including labor, materials and all other costs.
Basic Requirements
Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, Construction Management or other business-related major.
5-10 years of experience in financial management with controllership and/or FP&A focus.
Relevant work experience in construction industry preferred, but not required.
MBA, CPA or other relevant certification preferred but not required based on work experience.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively communicate across organizational departments.
Proficiency in financial software and systems.
Ability to partner and collaborate with local and regional executive leadership.
Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills required.
Willing to travel, as required (regionally and nationally).
