What are the responsibilities and job description for the Class A CDL Delivery Driver position at Performance Foodservice?
Food and Food Service Delivery Drivers play a critical role in the country's food supply chain. They are responsible for delivering and unloading food and related products to customers in a safe and timely manner, while also ensuring that all safety checks and regulations are met.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Communicate with customers, vendors, and coworkers professionally, ensuring accurate and timely responses to questions.
• Function as a team member within the department and organization, performing any duty assigned to best serve the company.
• Conduct pre- and post-trip safety checks on tractor/trucks and trailers, inspecting them according to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and taking necessary actions when required.
• Report any safety issues or repairs needed.
• Follow DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies, immediately reporting any safety hazards.
• Inspect trailers for properly loaded and secured freight, perform count checks of items, and verify customer invoices of products loaded.
• Complete paperwork associated with freight in an accurate and legible fashion.
• Drive to and deliver customer orders according to predetermined routes, unload products from trailers, and transport items into designated customer storage areas.
• Perform damage control checks on items, scan, and contact supervisors about removing orders according to company policy.
• Verify delivery of items with customers, obtain proper signatures, collect money (cash or checks) where required, load customer returns onto trailers, and secure trailer doors.
• Ensure tractors, trailers, and freight are appropriately locked and/or always secured, unload damaged goods and customer returns, bring to driver check-in, and complete necessary paperwork.
• Unload all equipment, materials, and remove trash from trailers as required, complete daily records of hours of service, and enter in log in accordance with Federal DOT, state, and company requirements.
• Perform general housekeeping duties in tractors, loading dock areas, and keep trailers clear and clean as required, securing all equipment and completing all necessary paperwork at the end of shifts.
Qualifications:
• 12 months commercial driving experience
• High school diploma/GED or state-approved equivalent
• Valid CDL A
• Meet all State licensing and/or certification requirements (where applicable)
• Must be 21 years of age
• Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for past 3 years
• Pass post-offer drug test and criminal background check
• Pass road test
• Valid current DOT Health Card and/or able to secure new DOT Health Card
• Able to hand-lift and utilize two-wheeler, lift gate, and/or other equipment to move and/or stack product cases/freight of varying size and weight throughout shifts.
