The Fire Alarm Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, inspection, and repair of fire alarm systems, ensuring they meet compliance and safety standards. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with technical skills and knowledge of fire alarm systems, including components like smoke detectors, control panels, and notification devices. The Fire Alarm Technician works to keep systems in optimal condition to protect people, property, and assets.

Responsibilities:

  • Installation & Setup: Install fire alarm systems and components (smoke detectors, control panels, notification devices) according to design specifications and building codes.
  • Maintenance & Inspection: Conduct regular inspections, testing, and preventative maintenance on fire alarm systems to ensure proper functionality and compliance with NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) standards.
  • Troubleshooting & Repair: Diagnose and resolve technical issues with fire alarm systems, replacing faulty components and wiring as needed to maintain system integrity.
  • System Upgrades: Assist with system upgrades and modifications to meet new code requirements and customer specifications.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Complete and maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, and testing activities, providing reports to supervisors and relevant authorities.
  • Customer Service: Communicate effectively with clients to explain inspection outcomes, repairs, and provide recommendations for system improvements or upgrades.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensure all work complies with local, state, and federal fire and electrical codes, as well as company policies and safety standards.

Requirements:

  • Technical Expertise: Knowledge of fire alarm systems, electrical systems, and safety protocols; experience with various fire alarm manufacturers (e.g., Honeywell, Siemens, Simplex).
  • License & Certification: NICET (National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies) Level II or higher in Fire Alarm Systems preferred.
  • Problem Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to address complex technical issues.
  • Attention to Detail: Precision in executing installations and repairs and maintaining accurate records.
  • Communication Skills: Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical information clearly to customers and team members.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to work in confined spaces, on ladders, and lift heavy equipment up to 50 lbs.
  • Education & Experience: High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational training or apprenticeship in fire alarm systems or electronics preferred, with at least 2 years of relevant experience.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 - $32.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
