POSITION DESCRIPTION:
PERIKIN is seeking a Construction Assistant Project Manager who will help manage all aspects of construction projects. The Assistant Project Manager will help lead construction projects through closeout from the preconstruction and construction phase and report directly to a Lead Project Manager and/or Superintendentsalary range based on experience.
This position will require minimal in-state travel to project job sites weekly.
PRIMARY JOB DUTIES:
Assist the Superintendent and Project Manager with the overall plan for the construction of the project
Coordinating work with project owner representatives, architects, engineers, inspectors, and site subcontractors and/or directing the work of all trades assigned to a construction work site
Managing estimating and bidding processes and tracking costs to manage project budget
Resolving and clarifying design issues
Identifying and resolving field issues and change orders
Writes contracts and purchase orders using company boilerplate language to document all ordered work, schedules, projected costs, change orders, and technical specifications
Participating in meetings to coordinate work and manage labor concerns
Ensuring work is completed in accordance with quality standards and contract specifications
Implementing project schedules, including each task associated with project completion
Documenting the technical, financial, and personnel aspects of each project
Reviewing project drawings, specifications, submittals, and change orders
Reviewing each trade's work progress with respect to each project phase
Providing field support to construction superintendents to help ensure contract compliance, quality control, and maintenance of the site
Tracking project phase completion against milestones
Setting expectations for managing a safe work site
Documenting each phase of the project
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
5 years in the construction industry
A college degree in engineering or construction management is preferred
Experience in working on Federal Contracts
Working knowledge of Primavera P6 scheduling software
Working knowledge of Procore software
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, project management, and scheduling software, with a strong aptitude for adopting new technology
In-depth knowledge of the construction industry, including building materials, construction specifications, methods and procedures, construction law and building codes, and safety and quality management practices
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Subcontract award/buy-out
Scope writing/definition
Risk management/schedule analysis
Change Order evaluation, presentation, negotiation
Estimating skills
Experience leading/mentoring others, combined with strong written and verbal communication skills
Prepare schedules and manage schedule update progress
Project accounting skills
Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with all parties involved in the construction project while handling complex issues and/or personalities
Ability to pass Government Clearance to enter federal installations
Valid Driver's License
Must access and navigate all construction site areas in all types of weather
Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds at times
Frequently required to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel, or crawl
