Business Development Consultant
Position Purpose
As a Business Development Consultant (BD Consultant), you will generate and maintain a robust pipeline of prospective customers, producing quality leads, booking meetings, and creating sales opportunities for Account Executives. The BD Consultant role will support global company revenue goals and/or their regional marketplace. As such, the position may require working a variable schedule to assist team members across different time zones.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead inbound & outbound prospecting efforts through various channels such as email, phone, social media, and CRM (HubSpot).
- Proactively engage prospective customers who meet our target profile.
- Articulate the business value proposition to decision-makers, evaluating their use case, purchase timeframes, pain/gain points, and assessing buying interest.
- Collaborate with relevant partners to generate quality leads from their customer base.
- Coordinate introductory conversations and sales demos/presentations with Account Executives and, where possible, participate to inform, educate, and help close deals.
- Collaborate with Marketing to plan and execute highly effective business development campaigns.
- Understand industry segments served and keep abreast of developments in the market and/or region.
- Stay current with software, system information, new features/enhancements, and product offerings.
- Attend trade shows and other industry events to showcase products/solutions.
- Maintain accurate prospect, customer, and pipeline records within our CRM systems.
- Achieve/exceed monthly KPIs & quotas.
Work Experience RequirementsEssential:
- 1 years of new business development experience, ideally with software-based solutions in a B2B environment.
- Proven consultative sales abilities with a track record of over-achieving against KPIs in past positions.
- Ability to adapt and maintain a high level of productivity, manage multiple competing priorities, and work effectively under time constraints in a fast-paced, complex environment.
- Experience working with CRM systems, such as Salesforce or HubSpot.
- Strong listening skills and the ability to apply new learnings internally and externally.
- Willingness to learn tools and workflows that will help generate leads.
- Ability to travel 15-25% of the time (domestic travel).
Desirable:
- Experience in business intelligence, accounting technology, and ERP solutions.
- Prior experience with HubSpot preferred.
- Prior experience selling and/or working within our target markets, such as Manufacturing, Distribution, Retail, Services, etc.
- Financial experience or exposure to budgets, forecasts, and financial statements (financial planning and analysis).
Qualification/Education Requirements
- BA/BS or equivalent preferred, or relevant work experience.
- Previous Sales Methodology training (SPIN, Challenger, Force, Meddic) highly desired.

Pay
- Pay is base plus variable (commission) on a 70/30 split with an OTE of $70-$80K.
