Job Summary: As a Building Physics Engineer at Permasteelisa North America, you will play a critical role in ensuring the thermal, acoustic, and embodied carbon performance of custom curtain wall systems. This position will lead and manage all building physics calculations necessary for the design, fabrication, and installation of high-performance building envelopes. By accurately modeling and analyzing factors such as U-values, condensation, solar heat gain, and thermal movement, the Building Physics Engineer will provide expert guidance on calculations and compliance, offering solutions for complex technical challenges. The role is essential in providing technical expertise to optimize building envelope designs, reduce energy consumption, and enhance durability of curtain wall systems.

Responsibilities:
- Serve as the lead Building Physics Engineer on assigned projects, overseeing all relevant calculations and analyses.
- Define and identify the scope of building physics calculations, including U-values, condensation, max temperature/TSA, acoustic performance, 3D penetrations, thermal movement, SHGC, and NFRC modeling as required for curtain wall submittals.
- Use industry-standard software (THERM, WINDOW, OPTICS, Bisco, Trisco, etc.) to develop solutions for energy efficiency and performance analysis.
- Review and ensure that all drawings, calculations, and material data sheets meet project specifications, building codes, and company standards.
- Review and coordinate all required curtain wall testing required in project specifications and code, including air and water testing, acoustic and NFRC testing.
- Collaborate with drafters, engineers, designers, and project managers to ensure the building envelope meets thermal, acoustical, and carbon performance goals.
- Prepare detailed reports and communicate engineering design decisions to all stakeholders, including project managers, shop, and field personnel.
- Support technical experts in embodied carbon and structural calculations.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide them with feedback and guidance on technical calculations and industry practices.
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor Degree in Mechanical, Civil, Structural, Materials, Facade, or Architectural Engineering (or a related field).
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in building physics, with a focus on façade systems and curtain wall projects.
- Curtain wall design experience.
- Thermal and acoustic principle and calculation methodology.
- NFRC basic knowledge.
