JOB SUMMARY
Primarily responsible for managing the proper and effective loading of all trucks. The Transportation Dispatcher will communicate in conjunction with the Director of Logistics, the Director of Transportation, and the Logistics Account Managers regarding their respective loads to ensure that all trucks are loaded properly and effectively in compliance with all company policies and procedures. This position communicates with each driver to ensure all orders are loaded correctly, and is responsible for directly communicating any maintenance or repairs issues concerning Pero Transport’s equipment to the Fleet Manager.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Daily coordination of equipment and personnel availability to provide services
- Daily log of Pero Transport’s equipment matching each driver to his/her truck and trailer
- Oversees the loading of trucks and ensures proper load temperature, any necessary bulkheads are in place, and all equipment is running properly to carry out that load.
- Places proper load paperwork in driver’s cab before dispatch.
- Relays nighttime communication from the Director of Logistics, the Director of Transportation, and the Logistics Account Managers to the drivers.
- Provides direction and effectively communicates to the Fleet Manager any fleet maintenance requirements.
- Ensures fleet is properly filled (i.e. each truck has a qualified driver).
- Collects all Pre-Trip and Post-Trip paperwork from each driver.
- Properly manages all Pre-Trip and Post-Trip inspections of Pero Transport’s equipment
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Bilingual in Spanish preferred
- Exceptional analytical skills and problem-solving capabilities
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage personnel
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to learn and understand transportation software systems and technologies
- Expertise in transportation equipment and mechanics.
- Knowledge of all DOT, state, and federal requirements, policies, and procedures.
- Participate in various workshops and educational programs to maintain knowledge on all industry regulations and rules.
