We are seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant Float to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for patient care and possess knowledge of medical terminology.
Summary of Duties
- Assists in the delivery of health care and patient care management for dermatology patients.
- Clinical care includes rooming of patients, patient flow, communicating with patients
Responsibilities
- Helps physician prepare clinical documentation, entering patient medical history, exam and other pertinent information
- Prepares exam rooms with necessary instruments and supplies; ensures cleanliness.
- Prepares patients for examination and treatment.
- Maintains an awareness of clinic flow and patient status. Problem solves and prevents issues by appropriately communicating and providing exceptional customer service to patients.
- Prepares and maintains supplies and equipment for treatments, including sterilization.
- Reviews physician’s schedule daily. Anticipates needs for each day.
- Assures patient files are maintained correctly and records information in charts appropriately.
- Records medical history and symptoms, completing documentation in the medical record.
- Coordinates patient care, acting as a liaison with other organizations.
- Respond promptly and appropriately to inquiries and requests from patients, staff and providers.
- Consistently demonstrates correct handling of procedure specimens per Provider orders
- Reports patient concerns as appropriate to physician immediately.
- Maintains patient confidentiality (complies with HIPPA).
- Conducts/participates in office safety programs and training. Complies with OSHA and other safety standards.
- Performs other selected nursing and administrative duties as directed by physician or Office Manager.
Physical Requirements
- Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients.
- Involves standing and walking, may require lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Due to potential exposure to body fluids, Hepatitis B vaccine is required for your own protection, you may provide vaccine records or a Hepatitis B immunity test result.
Working Conditions
- Exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, medical preparations and other conditions common to a medical office.
Performance and Experience Requirements
- Knowledge of medical practice and care to assist in giving patient care.
- Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care.
- Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment.
- Knowledge of EMR and computer system applications.
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in written form.
- Good organizational skills.
- Demonstrates independent judgment and initiative.
