Must possess a valid driver’s license and have an acceptable driving record per County policy.
This is an exempt position working 37.5 hours weekly/1950 hours annually.

The essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.- Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff, processing employee concerns and problems, directing work, counseling, disciplining, and completing employee performance appraisals.
- Coordinates, assigns and reviews work and establishes work schedules; maintains standards; monitors status of work in progress; inspects completed work assignments; answers questions; gives advice and direction as needed.
- Plans, organizes, and develops recreation program activities including athletics, outdoor education, and general recreational programming; educates the public on the benefits of recreation; promotes and markets the department and programs; solicits community input and needs in making programming decisions.
- Develops and enforces departmental policies and rules; determines methods and practices to be used by departmental personnel.
- Works with Recreational Advisory Committee; attends meetings; works with various other boards, agencies, and committees.
- Prepares annual budget recommendation and its supporting information; administers recreation budget.
- Works with supervisory personnel to design and plan events and programs, assess community needs and interests, market programs and evaluate the effectiveness and responsiveness of programs.
- Participates in program delivery especially as relates to corporate team building, facilitations, trips, programs and special events.
- Determines supplies, materials, and equipment needed to carry out programs, purchases equipment and supplies within budgetary guidelines.
- Works with civic clubs, Booster Club groups, school groups, and other organizations to obtain understanding and support of recreation programs.
- Participates in park planning, construction coordination, and ensuring facility preparation and maintenance.
- Prepares records and reports of department activities.
- Performs related work as assigned.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation Administration, Leisure Science or related discipline.
- Six (6) years varied recreation administration including considerable experience in a supervisory capacity or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.
Salary : $63,051 - $98,535
