The Monitoring Care Specialist Supervisor at Person Directed Supports, Inc. is responsible for managing the Monitoring Care Specialists who observe and respond to the remote technology equipment that assists in aiding the Individuals who PDS supports in leading more independent daily lives. This role ensures each individual receives high-quality care tailored to their unique lives through responding to immediate needs, developing the best course of action, and ensuring their utmost safety and rights. The ideal candidate will bring a combination of healthcare knowledge, empathy, and strong communication skills. *Please note that this is an in-person position as the Monitoring Care Specialist will work out of PDS’ Remote Monitoring Center.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee Monitoring Care Specialists. Including scheduling, training, assisting in maintaining equipment.
- Ensuring the safety, well-being, and development of individuals within PDS' care.
- Identify and properly assist in managing behavioral, medical or crisis situations.
- Creates and promotes a culture centered on building self-directed lives with the individuals we support
- Actively monitors and responds to all telecommunication calls via our technology equipment at PDS' Monitoring Center
- Notifies and actively communicates with appropriate team members in an accurate and timely manner of incidents and information requiring their attention and/or action
- Properly utilizing online programs to record details of each call to ensure information is documented in compliance with all PDS policies and procedures
- Reviews all daily documentation, updates incomplete records, and provides reports to management
- Coordinates and reviews the individual’s records to ensure that they are kept accurate and up-to-date
- Attends routine training and professional development activities as required by PDS
- Provide supervision, guidance, and training in accordance with individual’s needs and goals; following all aspects of the individual’s programmatic, medical, and behavior needs and related support plans
- Be able to fully understand and adhere to the clinical, psychological, and medical recommendations from the individual’s physicians
- Understand and evaluate the needs of each individual, how their diagnosis manifests itself, and how to respond to those needs in accordance with their treatment plan
- Take appropriate steps in the resolution, recording, and reporting of emergencies and/or incidents
- Includes conflict resolution and following behavioral plans and related trainings in deescalating individuals who may become physically or verbally aggressive
- Understand that behaviors are a means of communication and recognize how to respond in an appropriate manner
- Assure that the individuals’ goals and behavior programs are implemented as written
- Mandatory attendance at team meetings (in-person and virtual) and actively engages in communication measures with team members
- Due to individual needs, job performance, staffing needs, etc., the Monitoring Care Specialist may be assigned to another work site on a temporary or permanent basis
- Promotes a positive working relationship with all employees
- Promotes a positive reputation of PDS and to the individuals we support at all times
- Participate in on-call responsibilities.
- Completes all other assigned tasks as assigned by Person Directed Supports, Inc.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities and/or mental health diagnosis'
- Direct Support Professional and/or crisis management experience
- Flexible with day, evening, weekend, holiday, and on-call availability
- Ability to maintain a valid driver's license and vehicle of their own
- A friendly and extroverted personality with good decision-making and communication skills
- 21 years of age
