Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and reliable 1:1 Personal Support Coach to assist a 22-year-old adult with autism in daily routines, community engagement, and enjoyable activities. The ideal candidate will provide patient, respectful support while fostering independence and encouraging exploration of personal interests.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with personal hygiene routines, including handwashing and other self-care tasks.
- Support in preparing meals, snacks, and drinks.
- Provide gentle redirection and behavioral management strategies as needed.
- Engage in fun, interactive activities such as playing video games, watching movies, and enjoying YouTube content.
- Assist with skill-building, facilitating experiential learning, and fostering personal developmental opportunities.
- Explore community events and interest-based activities, helping to identify and participate in engaging opportunities.
- Assist with accessing the community for outings, such as visiting parks, local events, or hobby-related activities.
- Foster a positive, structured, supportive environment while respecting individual needs and preferences.
Skills
- Strong interpersonal skills with a genuine care for working with people with disabilities.
- Experience working with individuals with autism, special needs, or developmental disabilities preferred.
- Ability to manage challenging behaviors using appropriate strategies such as redirection, positive reinforcement, and structured support.
- Patient, understanding, and able to provide support with dignity and respect.
- Ability to follow a structured routine while remaining flexible to changing needs.
- Comfortable navigating and assisting with community outings and social engagement.

- Experience in social work or related fields is highly desirable.
