Position Overview

Our client, a leading organization in the automotive manufacturing sector, is seeking Tool & Die Makers to join their team. This role is critical to building, repairing, and maintaining tools, jigs, fixtures, and dies with high precision. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in Tool & Die work, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work independently to support manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and repair various jigs, fixtures, tools, and dies of complex designs with close tolerances.
• Plan and execute bench and machine operations to construct, adjust, and repair tools.
• Operate machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, and grinders to machine parts to precise specifications.
• Assemble and fit jigs, fixtures, tools, and dies; test dies on manufacturing equipment to ensure products meet specifications.
• Perform tool tryouts, detect faulty operations, and troubleshoot issues.
• Interpret complex blueprints, perform mathematical calculations, and select allowances for spring, lapping, grinding, and finishing.
• Provide input to tool designers regarding manufacturing capabilities for newly formed parts.
• Assist in training Tool Room Apprentices as needed.
  
  

Additional Responsibilities

• Support punch press or fourslide setup processes.
• Maintain compliance with environmental and quality management systems (ISO 9001/IATF16949 and ISO 14001).
• Participate in internal audits and ensure adherence to quality and environmental standards.
  
  

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

• Completion of a formal apprenticeship program or equivalent training (4 years of Tool & Die work in the metal industry).
• Experience working in high-precision environments with complex tools and machinery.
  
  

Skills

• Strong dexterity and precision to operate gauges and equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and technical documents.
• Proficient in using hand tools and machine tools with accuracy and detail orientation.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot tool and die issues effectively.
  
  

Communication Skills

• Strong written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with supervisors and team members.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence and respond to technical questions.
  
  

Physical Demands

• Frequently required to stand, walk, kneel, crouch, and use hands for fine motor tasks.
• Vision abilities must include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
• Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs frequently and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
• Frequent exposure to machine oils and sharp materials.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Certification as a Tool & Die Maker or equivalent on-the-job training.
• Strong attendance record and the ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001/IATF16949 and ISO 14001 compliance standards.
