What are the responsibilities and job description for the Payroll Specialist position at Personnel Solutions Unlimited, Inc.?
We are seeking an individual who will be a good culture fit and has at least one year of payroll experience. The ideal candidate should be adaptable in a fast-paced environment, able to stay organized, and effectively prioritize tasks. Attention to detail and the ability to meet tight deadlines are essential. Strong written and verbal communication skills are also a must, as the payroll specialist will primarily communicate with the assigned client payroll contact via email or phone. Candidates' need skills assessments for Data Entry and Excel. The Payroll Specialist (PS) is responsible for general payroll-related tasks such as : Review incoming payroll reports for accuracy, compliance, integrity, and completeness.
- Input / import timecards in an efficient and accurate manner.
- Calculate checks and process initial reports to check for accuracy.
- Attach backup documentation to each payroll in Worklio.
- Finalize and print checks.
- Package checks and send client reports in a timely manner.
- Process additional checks, correction checks, or void and reissues as directed by the client.
- Process final checks and send termination paperwork to the employee / client.
- Set up prevailing wage jobs in the system and review Certified Reports for accuracy.
- Enter job costing updates as provided by the client and / or timekeeping reports.
- Maintain inventory of general payroll supplies and reordering as necessary.
- Communicate directly with the client on payroll-related items (HR questions will be directed to the HR Specialist).
- Communicate with the HR Business Partner regarding potential client issues / concerns. The PS will also be responsible for the following :
- Respond to and set up garnishments as indicated in the orders.
- Respond to wage verifications from garnishment agencies.
- Update pay changes in the appropriate systems.
- Update direct deposit accounts and rejected pre-notes; notify clients of rejections.
- Update W4 / State tax information.
- Maintain employee files with updates listed above.
- Update the appropriate systems when an employee goes out or returns from LOA.
- Complete New Hire Reporting.
- Assist with client receipts and deposits as necessary.T-H 40 hours per week - Occasionally may require additional hours to meet payrolldeadlines.
