Pet Care Clinic-Kuna is looking for a full time veterinary assistant/technician/CVT to join our team. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and a positive can-do attitude. Experience in the veterinary field and/or education in the biological sciences is a plus, but not required for an eager, motivated, quick learning team player. We have moved into our spacious new clinic and need someone who is eager to provide personalized, compassionate lifelong care for our cherished pets and enthusiastic about educating their pet parents. Opportunity for advancement/leadership is available for the right candidate.

We are open M-F, 8-6 and Sat 9-1. Availability during all open hours is required. You will get a 36-40 hour/week work schedule. We offer a set schedule, once trained, of rotating 4-10 hour days one week and 3-10 hour days and 2 half days the next week. Working 1-2x Saturdays per month is required. Occasional schedule adjustments may be necessary.

Compensation is negotiable and commensurate with education and experience.

Specific Qualifications

Willing to provide exceptional customer service:

Project a friendly, caring demeanor to all clients and patients in person and over the phone

Employ appropriate, compassionate restraint in exam rooms and back area, including in front of clients

Answer basic pet health questions

Recommend over-the-counter products as needed for pet care

Offer ancillary services as needed—nail trim, parasite control, behavior training, nutrition, husbandry

Efficient use of computer/AviMark

Keep all areas of clinic neat and clean

Willing to learn and excel at technical tasks:

Pet restraint; taking temperature, pulse, respiration; taking patient history; vaccination history; client education

Checking clients/patients in and out; appropriate forms; appropriate charges

Collecting samples as needed-urine, stool, discharge

Filling prescriptions, writing prescription labels

Clipping/cleaning wounds; bandaging; cleaning ears; bathing

Setting up fecal floats, staining cytology, fecal gram stain preparation, urinalysis, sample prep to outside lab

Preparing appropriate vaccinations, deworming

Drawing blood, using blood analysis machines, using glucometer, performing blood smear and staining, differential counts, preparing samples for send-out

Clipping and prepping for surgery, surgery set-up, maintenance of surgery area, sterilization, instrument management

Microchip scanning, placement

Placing IV catheter, line management, fluid administration

SQ fluid administration, drawing medications and giving SQ, IM, IV medications

Performing dental prophylaxis and digital dental radiography

Proper use and management of anesthesia machine, monitoring equipment

Assist with/monitor surgeries and recovery/extubating , taking, and recording vitals

Taking digital radiographs

Equipment maintenance-daily, weekly, monthly, yearly

During the day organizing and clean-up

Performing opening and closing the clinic duties

Monitor inventory, stock supplies and goods

Comfortable with death and dying issues/euthanasia

Other tasks as required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.00 - $17.00 per hour
