What are the responsibilities and job description for the Veterinary Technician or Assistant (Part time) position at Settlers Park Veterinary Hospital?
Seeking part time Veterinary Technician or Assistant for private/local owned small animal Veterinary hospital in Meridian. Professional experience in Veterinary medicine or animal care preferred.
Pay based on experience and skill set.
Hours per week will vary. Minimum 30 hours up to 40 hours. Must have schedule flexibility to be able to fulfill relief work. There will be one (4 hour) Saturday shift once a month, all other shifts will be weekdays.
Job description: (training and education can and will be provided to the right candidate if not proficient in all areas)
- Collect and record patient history and vital signs
- Observe animal behavior and condition
- Assist the doctor during exams and procedures
- Provide nursing care to animals
- Trim nails and express anal glands
- Prepare animals and instruments for surgery
- Administer anesthesia to animals and monitor surgery
- Perform dental cleanings
- Collect and perform laboratory tests, such as bloodwork, urinalysis and fecal tests.
- Prepare and administer medications, vaccines, and treatments prescribed by a veterinarian
- Client education on preventative medicine
- Maintain a sanitary working environment, and sterilize equipment and surgical instruments

We are open Mon-Fri 8am-6pm and one Saturday a month 8am-12pm. Closed every Sunday and all major Holidays. We do not offer any boarding services or after-hours emergency care.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $15.00 - $19.00 per hour
