General Description
The Grooming Manager is responsible for overseeing the grooming department of their assigned store and providing outstanding grooming services through friendly engagement with our guests and their furry family members.
Duties
The general duties of a Pet Pros Grooming Manager, include but are not limited to :
- Recruiting and hiring additional groomers and bathers to work as part of the grooming department team
- Oversee the growth and development of other groomers and bathers
- Act as coach for other groomers and bathers using Company approved grooming training program(s)
- Manages grooming staff schedules
- Works in conjunction with the Retail Store Manager to identify and implement cross-training for retail staff where appropriate
- Performs periodic appraisals of grooming staff development and job results
- Manage and perform grooming services to breed standards and pet parent's preferences, making best use of bather time, if applicable, and resources in preparing pets for grooming
- Always ensures the safety and well-being of pets under their care, co-ordinates veterinary care if needed
- Develop long-term relationships with pet parents by engaging and educating our guests in a warm, friendly and inviting atmosphere
- Become familiar with and understand related retail products carried by Pet Pros, refer products to grooming guests when appropriate
- Learn and understand Pet Pros' loyalty, savings programs, and monthly promotions
- Learn and understand Pet Pros' point of sale and scheduling system and daily procedures
- Maintain grooming area cleanliness and organization, follows established safety and cleaning standards and procedures, and assists in creation of safety and cleaning standards if not currently in place
- Basic supplies are provided (shampoos and similar).
- Attends store meetings and trainings
- Other duties and projects as assigned

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and / or move items and / or pets up to and over 45 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
General : Customer / Guest service and grooming experience. Knowledge of pet related products required. Demonstrated pet grooming experience with formal training. Prior experience managing groomers and bathers highly desirable.
Working Environment : This job operates in a grooming environment with grooming tubs, tables and dryers.
Position Type / Expected Hours of Work : This is a variable hour position, days and hours of work will vary. This position requires the flexibility to work within our normal store operating hours, and may include before and / or after hours and weekends. Overtime may be required at times.
Travel : Occasional travel to other stores for coverage, meetings and events, at times before or after hours may be required.
