Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Automotive Controller to join our team. The ideal candidate will oversee the financial operations of our dealership and provide leadership to the accounting department. A key focus will be on leveraging CDK Global software to enhance operational efficiency. The Controller will play a critical role in maintaining the financial integrity of the dealership by assisting the CFO in managing budgets, forecasts, audits, and compliance efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and financial reporting.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and analytics, including statistics for the NCM 20 Groups.
- Monitor and analyze key dealership metrics, including profitability, inventory levels, and expense control.
- Lead month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring all reconciliations are completed on time.
- Assisting the CFO in maintaining compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Provide leadership and guidance to the accounting team, with a keen focus on training, developing and fostering a culture committed to continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with operations managers to provide financial insights and recommend solutions for operational improvements.
- Maintain and enhance internal controls to safeguard dealership assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Utilize CDK Global software to improve accounting procedures, streamline processes, and generate insightful reports.
- Support the CFO in strategic planning initiatives and special projects as needed.
Qualifications:
- In-depth knowledge of CDK DMS with hands-on experience in reporting, analysis, and process improvement, and the ability to train associates in CDK, as appropriate.
- Experience managing multi-store operations or large dealership groups.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field desired
- 5 years of experience as a Controller or similar role in the automotive industry.
- Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and dealership accounting principles.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Proficient in Excel.
- Ability to work collaboratively with multiple departments to drive financial and operational performance.
- Experience with billing and state titles desired
