A Line Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of production lines in their designated department. The role requires collaboration with other operators, a strong focus on quality, and accurate documentation of daily production, quality, scrap and machine downtime. Key duties include strong problem-solving skills such as identifying and solving mechanical issues to minimize downtime and ensure smooth production.
Openings available on day and night shifts following a 2-2-3 schedule. 8am - 8pm or 8pm - 8am.
Responsibilities
- Work safely while adhering to established safety procedures
- Comply with Quality Management Systems by following established procedures, performing quality checks and ensuring adherence to quality standards
- Be present during scheduled work hours and attend all required meetings
- Maintain excellent standards for housekeeping by keeping equipment and surrounding workspace clean and organized
- Follow Lock Out Tag Out procedures
- Be accountable for first piece approvals
- Perform routine housekeeping and operator-level maintenance on printers and vacuum systems
- Replace all process blades according to customer specifications and in compliance with QMS
- Prepare and organize equipment and resin materials for production
- Accurately input data related to resin and production into computer system
- Coordinate with material and resin handlers
- Expedite job changes, assist with modifications on other lines, and adjust blends on extruders to facilitate efficient job transitions
- Execute preventative maintenance tasks, complete maintenance work orders, and perform machine maintenance to ensure optimal performance
- Be qualified to train operator trainees
- Keep accurate and organized records and documentation related to production processes
- Provide break relief for other associates and assist other lines, as needed
- Attend all offered operator training classes
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management
Qualifications
Education
- High School Diploma or GED
Experience
- 6 months plastic experience, preferred
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Ability to read production schedules, work orders and work procedures in English
- Good communication skills
- Commitment to safety and quality
- Good mechanical aptitude, with some electrical knowledge
- Knowledge of resins and additives
- Problem solving and troubleshooting abilities
- Proven track record of excellent attendance
- Good computer and mathematical skills
