Job Overview
The Tree Crew Leader leads a team in performing tree trimming, pruning, removal, and maintenance tasks. This role involves ensuring safety, efficiency, and quality in all operations while providing guidance and training to crew members.
Responsibilities
- Team Leadership: Supervise and coordinate the activities of the tree care crew, assigning tasks based on crew members’ skills and experience.
- Safety Management: Ensure compliance with safety regulations and protocols, conducting regular safety meetings and training sessions.
- Operational Planning: Plan and organize daily work schedules, equipment needs, and site logistics for tree maintenance projects.
- Technical Expertise: Perform advanced tree care tasks, including pruning, cabling, and tree removal, using appropriate techniques and equipment.
- Equipment Maintenance: Oversee the maintenance and proper use of equipment such as chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts.
- Customer Interaction: Communicate with clients regarding project scopes, timelines, and any concerns that may arise during operations.
- Quality Control: Monitor work quality to ensure adherence to industry standards and customer expectations.
- Training and Development: Mentor and train crew members in tree care techniques, safety practices, and equipment operation.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of work performed, equipment usage, and crew hours.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; certification in arboriculture or related field is a plus.
- Experience: Proven experience in tree care, with at least 2-3 years in a supervisory role preferred.
- Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills; proficiency in tree care techniques and equipment operation.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Physical stamina to lift heavy equipment and perform strenuous tasks.
- Comfort working at heights using aerial lifts or climbing techniques.
