Position Overview: We are seeking a safety-conscious Tree Care Groundsperson to join our team. The primary responsibility is to assist tree climbers and arborists by handling ground-based tasks and ensuring the safety of the work site. They are responsible for equipment maintenance, managing debris, and supporting the team with necessary tools during tree work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ground Support: Assist Tree Climbers and Arborists by managing ropes, lowering branches, and ensuring tools and equipment are readily available.
- Debris Management: Collect and properly dispose of branches, leaves, and other tree debris after trimming or removal.
- Equipment Operation: Safely operate and maintain tools and equipment such as chainsaws, Dingo, Avant, chippers, stump grinders, etc.
- Safety Compliance: Help maintain a safe work environment by keeping the area clear of hazards, securing tools, and ensuring proper use of protective gear.
- Site Preparation and Cleanup: Prepare worksites, ensuring safe zones are established. Remove debris and clean up thoroughly after tasks are completed.
- Customer Interaction: Communicate with clients to understand their needs and provide exceptional service.
- Collaboration: Work effectively as part of a team, supporting other ground crew members and climbers as needed.
Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of safety procedures and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team, following instructions from arborists and tree climbers.
- Familiarity with using chainsaws, chippers, and other landscaping or tree care equipment preferred but not required.
- Physical fitness and stamina to handle the demands of the job.
- Valid driver’s license; CDL is a plus.
