Job Summary
The Bus Driver drives a Pflugerville City Bus as a means of transportation for various City functions and groups, including City Council, Parks and Recreation, Commissioners, Summer Campers, Senior citizens, special events, and volunteer groups. Temporary, seasonal position that frequently interacts with participants of the summer camp program including but not limited to staff and children of all ages. Interfaces directly with City management and employees, other departmental employees, parents of campers, and the general public.
Essential Job Functions And Other Important Duties
Formal Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
Relatable Work Experience: None required
Training, Licenses, and Certifications: Valid Texas Class "B" Driver's License; Valid Texas School Bus Driver's License, or a CDL with Passenger Endorsement; Maintain a safe driving record which meets the City of Pflugerville insurance requirements; Current DOT medical certification card.
Disclaimer: Unless otherwise stated, applicants are permitted to substitute two years of related full-time experience for one year of higher education or one year of related higher education for two years of experience in order to meet the minimum requirements of the job. One year of full-time experience is define as 30 or more hours worked per week for 12 months. One year of higher education is defined as 30 credit hours completed at an accredited college or university.

Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services; this includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
Knowledge of controlling operations of equipment or systems.
Skill in utilizing a personal computer, associated software programs, including Windows and Microsoft Office applications.
Skill in Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
Ability to establish and maintain professionally effective relationships with external public/vendors, internal management and non-management employees, and City and other government officials.
Ability to develop, implement, and administer goals, objectives, and procedures for providing effective and efficient services for the City.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, as well as strong time and task management skills.
Ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong; it does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem.
Environmental Factors And Other Physical Requirements
Subject to sitting and standing to perform essential functions in an office environment.
Visual acuity, speech, and hearing; hand and eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate office equipment.
Part-Time Seasonal.
Frequent sitting.
Routine exposure to loud noise and large crowds of people.
Respond to a variety of environmental conditions.

- Transport participants to/from a variety of activities, field trips, projects, programs, and special events.
- Oversees the safe loading/unloading of passengers, including those who need a lift.
- Responsible for assuring the assigned vehicle is in safe operating condition at all times.
- Reports any needed mechanical repairs or inspections.
- Maintains order and resolves disputes - documenting as needed.
- Establishes the timeline needed for each trip. Ensures that participants reach their destinations in a timely manner.
- Maintains current required licenses, certificates and medical certifications for drivers.
- Interacts in a professional, respectful, and ethical manner at all times.
- Establishes a good working relationship with City employees and the general public.
- Other related duties as required or assigned, including minor maintenance activities.
