Job Description
- PGLS is looking for a Kurdish (Sorani) Temporary Language Tester for a two days assignment at the School of Language Studies at the Foreign Service Institute. Assignment dates : 3 / 21 / 2025; 3 / 24 / 2025.
Temporary Tester for Kurdish (Sorani) language proficiency examinations, interacting with the examinee in Kurdish either face-to-face or by digital video. The FSI language proficiency test rates the examinee's skills in reading and speaking. The Tester provides information to an Examiner about the examinee's performance on various parts of the test and about the content of the texts used, and assists with the selection and / or preparation of reading test materials.
Requirements
English proficiency of S-3 or higher (ILR scale) in speaking documented and certified through an approved third-party vendor, provided prior to an in-person screening. If documentation of English level is not provided, the Language Testing Unit will conduct language screening to determine if the candidate meets general professional proficiency.
Native language proficiency of S-4 / R-4 or higher (ILR scale) in speaking and reading, documented and certified through an approved third-party vendor, provided before an in-person screening. If documentation of native language level is not provided, the Language Testing Unit will conduct language screening to determine if the candidate meets advanced professional proficiency.
Knowledge of basic computer skills : e.g., email, Microsoft Office Suite, and familiarity with online meeting software (Zoom, Skype, MS Teams), etcetera.
Preferred Qualifications :
Experience conducting proficiency-based tests (e.g., DLAB, ACTFL OPI) in one or more foreign languages tested at FSI.
BA / BS, MA / MS or PhD in language testing, evaluation and measurement, educational assessment, applied linguistics, second language acquisition or related field.
Experience in designing and / or selecting testing materials.
Experience with online delivery systems used to administer proficiency-based exams.

Requirements
BA / BS, MA / MS, or Ph.D., or foreign equivalent degree in Graphic Design, Educational Technology, Instructional Design, etc. One (1) year of experience or education in Educational Technology or Digital Media Design. One (1) year of experience using a Learning Management System as either an instructor or administrator. Experience creating digital training materials : course content, teaching manuals, student guides, e-books, and interactive media (video, audio, animation, digital text). Experience using Office and Graphic Design Applications (Adobe Premier, Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, and other Adobe Creative Cloud apps). Knowledge of basic computer skills : e.g., email, Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with online meeting software (Zoom, Skype, MS Teams, Webex), etcetera. Preferred : Experience in desktop publishing graphic design valued. One (1) year of experience training instructors in using digital training techniques. Project management experience valued. Experience in Google for Education. Knowledge of Instruction Design Theory and Methods. Expertise with MS Office and Graphic Design (Adobe Premier, Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, and other Adobe Creative Cloud apps.)
