Marshallese Freelance Interpreters for On-Site (In-Person) Interpreting
Piedmont Global Language Solutions (PGLS) offers a wide range of language services, including interpretation, translation, transcription, language instruction, cultural sensitivity training, and localization. Our network of language professionals provides expertise in over 200 languages, including regional dialects.
PGLS is seeking Marshallese freelance interpreters to provide on-site (OSI) language interpretation services in the following areas:

Spokane, Spokane Valley, Collinsville, Colbert, and Tri-Cities (Pasco, Richland, and Kennewick) in Washington

Idaho cities along the Washington border (Post Falls, Coeur d'Alene, Moscow, Lewiston)
-
Cities north of Spokane, WA (Chewelah, Deer Park, Newport, Kettle Falls)
- Wenatchee, Ephrata, Quincy, Yakima, Ellensburg, Moses Lake, Ritzville, and Othello
These are 1099 (Independent Contractor) positions with interpretation services taking place on-site (in-person).
Interpreter Functions:

Serve as an interpreter between a diverse range of individuals, each with different voices, accents, speaking tempos, and personalities.

Provide clear and accurate interpretations of verbal communication, ensuring no additions or omissions.

Interpret questions, answers, statements, arguments, explanations, and other forms of verbal communication.

Provide sight translations of documents and other written materials, as needed.

Convey the thought, purpose, spirit, emotions, and tone of the speaker from the source language to the target language, and vice versa.

Inform relevant parties of any factors that may hinder your performance.
- Comply with applicable ethics and standards.
Requirements
Hold a valid driver’s license, or any government-issued valid form of identification
Ability to commute to assigned location
Based in the above-mentioned area
Access to a mobile phone
Minimum Qualifications:
Interpreting experience, paid or as a volunteer
Two (2) relevant professional references that can vouch for the candidate’s work as an interpreter OR one (1) relevant professional reference and one (1) relevant professional letter of recommendation
Proficiency in English and target language.
Desired but not required:
University degree in Interpretation
If available, interpreters should provide proof of:
Certifications
Test results from other organizations (testing centers, other LSPs, etc.).
