Role: Project Engineering Manager

Location: Cranberry Township, PA or Franklin, PA


Job Overview

In this role, you will seek to implement and drive best practices in areas such as systems order engineering and drawings, installation estimating, contractor bids and deployment, installation practices, startup, and commissioning of the project without repeat trips for corrections. In this supervisory role, you will direct, coach, train and review the work of others. This will include other System design engineers, Estimators, Mechanical designers, and other supporting staff, as assigned.


As a working manager, you will assume complete responsibility for system projects from a technical support standpoint. You will also support our estimating process and implement new efficient ways of operating as developed. This role includes project engineering ticket organization and prioritization working with our manager of project management, along with continuous development of team capabilities to support our sales and project teams with technical assistance. 


The Project Engineering and Estimating Manager will often be called upon to perform application reviews on complex systems, to verify accuracy and optimal system performance helping to solve complex issues efficiently.  Candidates are proficient in initiating and leading Continuous Improvement activities with a record of positive results. 


This position reports to the Sr. Director, Sales Operations, and is in either Cranberry Township or Franklin, Pennsylvania; in some cases, remote work is accepted.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manages the work of others, including responsibilities such as interviewing, selection, coaching, training, and work supervision. Performs employee performance planning and reviews:

          - Half year and annual performance reviews and goal planning.

          - Meets on a regular basis (weekly minimum) with each direct report, to review 

             progress versus goals.

  • Serves as a systems integration & installation expert, understanding from estimating through installation acceptance the importance of documentation, dimensional and instructional. 
  • Assists the Sr. Director, Sales Operations by taking the lead in areas such as planning and running team meetings, department initiatives, continuous improvement actions, etc.
  • Promotes the personal growth of direct reports by guiding them in their work, as well as on Teams and improvement projects. Guides others as they seek to obtain knowledge of Conair equipment and processes.
  • Travels as required for customer project meetings, sales meetings and technical support.
  • Provides Conair management with frequent updates on project status, both internal and customer-facing projects. Is seen as a champion of communication.
  • Responsible for setting the Conair standard for documentation (systems drawings) between estimating drawings to project drawings. Self and team to be proficient with communication and able to be customer facing to assist PjM team in real time with customer Teams calls. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering (or related field).
  • Position typically expects ten (10) years of direct/relevant experience based on scope of position.
  • PMP certification is a plus.
  • Must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written; Assists direct reports in applying proper communication and communication strategies.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret business correspondence.
  • Skillful interpersonal skills; aids direct reports in applying interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks.
  • Practiced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Microsoft Project or SmartSheet Timeline software. Utilizes AutoCAD and navigates SAP skillfully. Guides direct reports on utilizing appropriate software tools.
  • Must be adaptable and able to effectively manage in a dynamic environment.
