Operations Manager
PGT Trucking Inc. is looking for a qualified candidate to staff an Operations Manager for our Dedicated operation in Chicago Heights, IL. This position will manage and direct daily activities of a dedicated fleet, and work with our customer to improve and optimize logistics performance of the fleet.
The Logistics Manager will work on-site at our customer's headquarters in University Park, IL.
Primary Responsibilities
- Analyzes available loads to prioritize coverage and to meet delivery requirements as provided by the customer.
- Provides Customer with prompt updates of load and fleet status, including but not limited to on-time pickups and deliveries.
- Secures, organizes and assigns loads to drivers in manner designed to maximize efficiency and quality of performance. Gives appropriate routing directions and scheduling instructions for pick-ups and deliveries, as needed. Advises customer of scheduling problems (pickup and delivery).
- Instructs, guides, supervises, motivates and evaluates drivers regarding the daily performance of their assigned duties in a manner consistent with applicable Company policies and procedures and DOT safety regulations. Makes recommendations to management with respect to driver's performance.
- Monitors compliance of drivers with all Company policies and procedures, in addition to all local, state and federal statutes, on a regular basis.
- Handles any problems drivers may encounter in a prompt and efficient manner, as necessary. Ensures that all activity in area of responsibility is conducted in accordance with The Company's safety program and all related procedures and practices. Ensures that all subordinates are trained in appropriate safety procedures.
What YOU Need to Succeed
- High School Diploma or GED required. Associates or Bachelors strongly preferred.
- At least 1 year of experience in Transportation managing truck drivers.
- 1-2 years of management experience.
- Customer Service, Detailed Oriented, and Sense of Urgency Mentality
- Must have attention to detail and the ability to multi-task
