Position Overview:
The Alumni Success Coordinator (ASC) is a member of the JRLA Post-Secondary Team. This
position builds relationships with JRLA graduates to support their pursuit of higher education
specifically at a 4yr university or college. Efforts are generally focused on academic, social,
emotional, and financial success to support student enrollment and persistence through to
graduation. The use of discretion and independent judgment helps drive results. These efforts
manifest themselves through data management, regular communication with alumni, visits to
college campuses, college partnerships, and alumni events. Other tasks and responsibilities as
required may be requested. This position also requires the coordinator to maintain college and
scholarship partnerships to ensure strategic goals are met. This position reports to the Director of
College & Postsecondary Success.

Duties and responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Academic Advising
- Organize group orientation dates at partner colleges and universities
- Course review and registration
- Develop individual long-term graduation plans
- Monitor academic success (GPA, credit completion, SAP)
- Assist with transfer and re-enrollment processes
- Refer alumni to academic support services on respective campuses
- Financial Advising
- Assist alumni and parents/families with financial aid adjustments and corrections, and
- Provide counseling around scholarships and other award letters
- Troubleshoot financial pitfalls
- Emotional/Social Support
- Visit students on college campuses
- Arrange meetings/conferences with key administrators/support systems on campus
- Work with colleges and universities to connect alumni with resources on campus
- Support the College Bound Scholars class as needed (through workshops, presentations,
- Provide support related to college applications
- Build relationships with seniors
- Help the post-secondary team with seniors and create a curriculum for the senior college
- Alumni Connect
- Frequent outreach to connect/communicate with alumni via social media, phone
- Log communications with alumni
- Update campus and network-wide tracking of student enrollment, graduation, and
- Communicate status of alumni persistence and goals met to JRLA leadership and present
- Create and gather information from surveys
- Manage documents such as transcripts, schedules, and grades from alumni
- Share job and scholarship opportunities with alumni and support them to secure such
- Data Management
- Track college status/enrollment
- Use compiled data to inform changes/updates to high school curriculum and present to
- Review grades, FAFSA completions, and schedules to monitor college success
- Devise and analyze alumni surveys regarding persistence as it relates to financial, social
- Log alumni contacts, persistence, transfer reasons, FAFSA completion, majors, grades,
- Oversee data input into GradSnapp, analyze comprehensive data, and make effective
- Scholarship Management
- In collaboration with the board, ASC manages the scholarship budget for JRLA scholars
- Allocate scholarship funding according to goals of strategic plan for current JRLA
- Assign scholarships to current JRLA scholars and alumni based upon scholar data and
- Facilitate annual scholarship selection and discussion
- Facilitate collection of scholarship thank you letters from scholars to donors
- Ongoing communication with partner institutions for JRLA scholars and alumni
- Event Planning
- Plan and execute scholarship brunch/breakfast for scholarship recipients and donors
- Facilitate alumni panels for current JRLA scholars, providing a variety of post-secondary
- Plan and host Alumni Send-Off in August (celebratory event before scholars leave for
- Provide annual Free Application for Federal Student Aid (“FAFSA”) renewal workshops
- All other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and/or Principal Skills and Characteristics
- Extensive knowledge of student development, curriculum design, and assessment
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills, especially those in the areas of collaboration, conflict
- Strong organization and planning skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and
- Knowledge of research techniques and data analysis in higher education
- An inclusive student-centered philosophy of providing services and resources
- Ability to work well without close supervision, meet deadlines and handle confidential
- Strong working knowledge of all Microsoft Office and Google programs and ability to
- Work collaboratively with the 2-year/MTO Alumni Success Coordinator
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution required; master’s degree preferred
- Academic advising or counseling experience is helpful
- Teaching experience is helpful
- Successful completion of a criminal background check
- Verification of identity and eligibility to legally work in the United States
- Reliable transportation required. This position requires travel
