Phantom Fireworks, the industry leader in the import, wholesale, and retail of consumer fireworks, is seeking an HR Benefits and Payroll Specialist who is detail-oriented and self-motivated.
Responsibilities
- Administer and manage the company’s benefits programs, including health insurance, 401(k), HSA, life insurance, and disability coverage.
- Help with the design, implementation, and ongoing management of employee benefit plans.
- Ensure compliance with benefits regulations and deadlines, including open enrollment, documentation, and reporting.
- Conduct audits to ensure proper documentation for dependents and benefits enrollment, making corrections as necessary.
- Become the in-house expert on all employee benefits, providing guidance and assistance to employees on their benefits options.
- Assist in improving the open enrollment process to make it more efficient and user-friendly for employees.
- Process payroll accurately and on time, ensuring all deductions, tax withholdings, and other payroll-related processes are handled correctly.
- Assist with payroll inquiries from employees and resolve any issues promptly.
- Assist with the management of the workers' compensation program, ensuring compliance and helping identify opportunities to reduce workers' comp costs.
- Work with insurance providers to review claims and investigate strategies for reducing premiums and managing risk.
- Provide employees with guidance on benefits options, changes, and enrollment processes.
- Assist in educating employees about benefits packages and any updates to policies or offerings.
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements and Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource, Business Administration, or related field
- 1-2 years of experience in benefits administration, payroll processing or related field (preferred)
- Basic knowledge of benefit programs, including health insurance, 401k, HAS, life insurance and disability plan
- Experience with workers’ compensation (preferred)
- Experience with Paycom or similar HRIS systems
- Excellent organization skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
