What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Swim Team Coach position at Phantom Lake Bath and Tennis Club?
We seek friendly, positive Swim Coaches to join our program. We coach swimmers of all levels, from first-time swimmers to competitive event swimmers. As a part of our instructor team, you will teach swimmers with a wide range of skills, experience, and circumstances. You help swimmers define and achieve their swimming goals, help athletes refine their strokes and cut times, and promote an inclusive atmosphere in which everyone feels welcome. Swim Team should be fun for all kids – athletes set their own goals with the coach so together they can work to achieve success. The most important thing is that swimmers enjoy their involvement with the team.
PLC is committed to providing a positive atmosphere that prioritizes safety and inclusivity for all employees. PLC has implemented safety standards and protocols related to preventative health measures based on CDC and local health department guidelines.
Swim Coaches are paid ~$25/hr.
Responsibilities:
- Be on time to all practices including arriving a few minutes early to set up beforehand and staying a few minutes afterward to put away and clean any equipment.
- Attend all practices
- Attend all meets, typically Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Prepare swim selection and competition sheets for all competing athletes.
- Create and conduct workouts
- Work with the Parent Representative(s) and Club Manager to schedule additional pool time or practices.
- Effectively teach strokes, starts, and turns
- Help athletes to develop and achieve their highest personal and athletic potentials
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as demonstrated ability to foster teamwork.
- Encourage and support athletes of all skill levels.
- Adhere to the Midlakes Swim Operating Plan (www.midlakesswimleague.org).
- Attend Mandatory Coaches Meetings as required.
- Promote the sport of swimming using encouragement, good sportsmanship, and fun.
- Attend Championship Meets.
- Attend Year End Awards Banquet
- Develops positive relationships with participants and parents.
- Knows/reviews all emergency procedures and responds to emergency situations immediately in accordance with policies. Completes related reports as required.
Qualifications:
- You are at least 15 years of age and have:
- American Red Cross (ARC) approved certification for: Lifeguard Training, First Aid, and CPR/AED for the Lifeguard. Certification is good for 2 years.
- Swim instructor or coaching experience.
- Priority given to PLC members, PLC lifeguards, PLC swim instructors, & PLC swim team volunteers.
Job Types: Part-time, Seasonal
Pay: $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
Schedule:
- Evenings as needed
- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed
