Lab Technician

JOB SUMMARY

• Provide support to the Quality Control Laboratory to ensure samples are promptly and accurately processed through the Quality Control laboratory

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform laboratory tests following standard test methods, SOPs, and GLPs. Testing includes identification by sensory evaluation and IR technology, microbiological quantitative and qualitative testing, and environmental testing of the manufacturing area.
• Report test results in laboratory databases.
• Help manage inventory of reagents, media, control organisms, and stock cultures. Assist in preparing and ordering them when needed.
• Maintain laboratory equipment, instruments, and tools. Be aware of and support the calibration needs.
• Complete laboratory reports in an organized manner. Keep laboratory clean and neat at all times.
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Assist the QC Laboratory Manager and Microbiologist as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• Related science or laboratory work experience preferred.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as laboratory procedure manuals, safety rules, operating maintenance instructions.
• Ability to write detailed technical work instructions and reports.

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages and volume. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
