Key Responsibilities
Financial Management:
- Oversee the daily financial operations of the organization, including managing cash flow, budgeting, and financial forecasting.
- Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard the organization’s assets.
- Prepare, monitor, and analyze annual budgets, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
- Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements to the executive team and board of directors.
- Analyze financial data and trends to provide insights and recommendations for improving financial performance.
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting of all financial information, including compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Manage the accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately and in a timely manner.
- Reconcile bank statements, accounts, and ledgers to ensure the accuracy of financial records.
- Oversee the invoicing process and follow up on outstanding payments, ensuring timely collection of dues from members and vendors.
- Oversee the payroll process, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time.
- Manage payroll taxes and ensure compliance with state and federal tax regulations.
- Maintain payroll records and handle any payroll-related inquiries or issues.
- Ensure compliance with all financial regulations, including state and federal tax laws, non-profit regulations, and reporting requirements.
- Coordinate and manage external audits, preparing all necessary documentation and responding to auditor inquiries.
- Implement and monitor internal controls to prevent fraud and ensure the integrity of financial data.
- Conduct financial analysis to identify areas for cost savings, revenue enhancement, and overall financial efficiency.
- Provide financial insights to support strategic decision-making and long-term planning.
- Develop financial models and forecasts to assist in planning for future financial needs.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate and efficient financial operations across the organization.
- Provide financial training and guidance to staff as needed to enhance their understanding of financial processes and compliance.
- Lead and mentor any finance or accounting staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. CPA or CMA certification is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or finance, preferably in a non-profit or association environment. Experience in the plumbing, heating, or cooling industry is a plus.
- Skills:
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and budgeting.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
