The Opportunity
We are seeking a National Accounts Manager to join our dynamic team and spearhead the acquisition of new brand partnerships. In this role, you’ll identify and engage with promising consumer brands, pitching Phelps United’s unique value proposition as a turnkey eCommerce acceleration partner that helps businesses scale online. You will manage the full partnership cycle from prospecting and outreach to negotiating contracts and onboarding new brands. By collaborating with internal teams, you’ll ensure each partnership launches smoothly and delivers on its growth potential. This is a high-impact role for a proactive, sales-savvy professional eager to drive growth in a fast-paced, innovative environment. (Experience with Amazon marketplace (Seller Central, 3P sales, etc.) is a plus in this role – but your drive, strategic mindset, and relationship skills are what matter most.)
Key Responsibilities
- Prospect & Identify Brands: Research and target potential brand partners that would benefit from Phelps United’s eCommerce acceleration services. Build a robust pipeline of leads in various product categories.
- Pitch Value Proposition: Initiate contact and develop relationships with key decision-makers at target brands. Clearly articulate how Phelps United can scale their online sales (on Amazon and beyond) and solve their eCommerce challenges.
- Negotiate & Close Deals: Lead the partnership discussion from initial interest through to signing agreements. Prepare and deliver compelling proposals, address concerns, negotiate contract terms, and secure win-win partnership deals.
- Collaborate on Onboarding: Work closely with internal teams (e.g. Marketplace Management, Marketing, Operations) to transition signed partners into our program. Ensure a smooth handoff and coordinate to set up each brand for success on our platform.
- Strategic Growth Planning: Partner with new clients to outline growth plans and KPIs for their online sales. Set expectations and align on strategies that will drive revenue while maintaining the brand’s integrity across channels.
- Market Insights: Stay informed about eCommerce trends and marketplace updates. Provide feedback to our team on what prospective partners are looking for, helping us refine our services and value propositions over time.
Qualifications
- Sales & Business Development Experience: Proven success in a sales, business development, or partnerships role. You can confidently prospect, cold-call/email, and close deals with mid-size to large business clients.
- ECommerce Knowledge: Solid understanding of eCommerce and online marketplaces. Experience with Amazon Seller Central, 3P sales, or marketplace growth strategies is preferred but not required.
- Strong Communicator: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a talent for storytelling and presenting value. Able to tailor your pitch to resonate with C-suite executives or business owners.
- Negotiation & Closing Skills: Demonstrated ability to negotiate contracts and manage deal cycles to closure. You’re persuasive, resilient, and know how to find win-win outcomes.
- Relationship Builder: Natural at building rapport and trust. Skilled in consultative selling – you listen to brands’ needs and position solutions that foster long-term partnerships.
- Entrepreneurial Drive: Self-motivated, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment. You take initiative, think creatively to overcome obstacles, and adapt quickly to change.
- Team Player: Collaborative mindset with the ability to work cross-functionally. You value team success and are ready to coordinate with marketing, account managers, and others to achieve shared goals.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or related field (or equivalent experience) is a plus.
