This is intermediate level engineering aide work of limited scope performing minor engineering or architectural support tasks in a survey corps, traffic control, operations or drafting environment. Employees in this class are responsible for surveying an assigned geographical or residential location, assisting in conducting environmental or traffic studies, researching architectural or drafting records as technical support to engineers and architects or performing a variety of support tasks for an engineering operation. Work includes maintaining conventional and electronic survey equipment and records, or tracing sketches, draft plates, maps, plans, and architectural and engineering drawings, or investigating complaints related to traffic conditions. Work may include continuing to develop skills in the use and applications of computer aided drafting and design (CADD), equipment for drafting efficiency and accuracy and utilizing personal and/or mainframe computer terminals for data entry and retrieval related to a designed task. The work is performed under the supervision of a technical superior.
