You can contact the analyst on this posting or the Health Department for more information.ABOUT THE POSITIONThis is medical administration work directing, through subordinate supervisors, teams of medical, nursing, counseling, technical and paramedical personnel engaged in providing primary, ambulatory medical care in one or more municipal health centers in the area of specialization or in the division of Disease Control. Employees in this class in the Internal Medicine, HIV Services, and Pediatrics specialties are responsible for insuring the adequacy of medical care and related services provided by health center personnel and by other health care institutions to patients enrolled in a medical care program. Direction of medical care teams, contact with administrators and physicians of other health care institutions, establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with representatives from managed health care organizations, and participating with managed health care organizations in the review of the medical care provided to health center patients are of major significance to the work. The employee in the Disease Control specialty is responsible for directing the division-wide activities of medical and administrative personnel to prevent, control, and report on diseases and health conditions that are contagious. Directing the development and implementation of public health emergency response plans for the City and ensuring Philadelphians are prepared for any kind of public health emergency are of significance to the work. Work may include directing and/or participating in program planning, grant writing and overseeing the development and evaluation of standards associated with the program. Work is performed under the medical and administrative direction of a higher level physician for all specialties except Disease Control. Work is performed under the direction of an administrative or medical superior for the Disease Control specialty.
