Salary Range: $84,000 - $100,000.00
Job is on site 5 days per week. Eligibility for one remote day (PA resident only) and / or compressed work week after 6 months
Community Affairs Manager
This program management position is accountable for the creation, development, management, supervision and coordination of PGW’s Community Outreach Programs. In collaboration with The Manager of Community Affairs & Constituent Services, The Vice President of External Affairs and the SVP of Corporate Affairs, the Manager is charged with the development and implementation of strategic outreach throughout the Philadelphia community to spread awareness of PGW and its initiatives. The Manager influences and shapes PGW’s overall approach to event outreach.
This role is responsible for managing stakeholders internally and externally implementing high quality events and ensuring quality representation at stakeholder partner events. Additionally, the Manager with coordinate with other departments that put on externally facing events to ensure proper coordination and data collection. Also, the Manager will track and report on data that will be used to target audiences and ensure that events are held throughout the city equitably.
The Community Affairs Manager will serve as the main contact for all external events initiated by or reached out to though the Department of Corporate Communications and External Affairs. These requests may come from Senior Management, Department Representatives, Affinity Groups and External Organizations. The Manager will review and respond to the same in accordance with company policies and procedures
Responsibilities
Coordinate closely with staff to plan strategic approaches for community outreach and engagement on behalf of the company.
Work with External Affairs leadership to develop a corporate strategy to enhance and expand PGW’s community outreach.
Act as the primary contact for all events requests.
Ensure that events organizers and constituents are served in a respectful and coordinated manner.
Provide overall program management, supervision and coordination of activities and tasks involving community outreach projects/meetings.
Develop recommendations for programmatic and operational modifications for the department, as they arise.
Implement community outreach initiatives and programing.
Track and report monthly community events activity to the Manager of Community Affairs and Constituent Services.
Maintain and update databases for legislative and community organizations contacts.
Other responsibilities as assigned by the Manager of Community Affairs and Constituent Services.
Perform other special projects and assignments as requested.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Community Affairs, Political Science, Public Affairs, Marketing, or other related field of study preferred.
4 years related experience working in an energy utility, government, non-profit, or public service environment.
Strong organization skills, including the ability to handle simultaneous priority projects and meet established deadlines.
Experience working with the public.
Good communication and skills, capable of influencing others and keeping others informed.
Ability to creatively solve problems with persistence.
Ability to perform regular outreach and comfortability in working within all neighborhoods in Philadelphia.
Value and encourage diversity of thought, background, and perspectives.
Experience and fluency in MS Office software programs, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
