Job Description
I. Organizational Overview
Philadelphia Youth Basketball, Inc. (PYB), officially launched in June of 2015, is a community-built youth development and community empowerment organization that leverages the iconic game of basketball to help today’s urban youth overcome the most urgent and systemic issues facing underserved communities. A diverse and impassioned group of individuals, including leaders from the grass-roots to the tree-tops, have been working diligently to execute upon this mission by building an impactful program, a robust and sustainable organization, and ultimately our world-class Alan Horwitz ‘Sixth Man’ Center to help uplift thousands of children, youth, and families for generations to come.

II. Primary Scope of Duties
Reporting to the Safety and Security Manager, PYB is seeking a Lead Culture Keeper Coordinator to bring strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills to the PYB community. In this role, you will embrace change, prioritize youth, empower others, share knowledge, and lead by example. The primary responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:
1. Security and Safety Management

- Assist the Safety Manager with daily operations to ensure a safe and secure environment for the PYB community.
- Supervise and train the safety team on emergency protocols, access control, surveillance monitoring, and conflict resolution.
- Assist with the development, implementation, and enforcement of safety policies for all programmatic, revenue, and development events.
- Conduct regular audits and risk assessments; identify vulnerabilities and propose corrective actions.
- Ensure all security systems (e.g., alarms, cameras, access controls) are functional and regularly maintained.

- Collaborate with the Manager of Safety and Security to determine safety needs for events and public functions.
- Assist in developing and implementing safety plans for large gatherings, including emergency procedures and compliance with safety regulations.
- Oversee event-specific safety teams and ensure proper staffing and safety practices are in place.

- Act as the lead in emergency situations (e.g., fire, medical, evacuation, lockdown) when the Manager is unavailable.
- Assist in conducting drills, audits, and training exercises to maintain emergency readiness.

- Supervise a rapidly growing team, offering leadership, feedback, and performance evaluations.
- Schedule safety personnel to ensure adequate coverage across shifts.
- Provide on-the-ground coverage when needed.
III. Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Public Safety, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in security, law enforcement, or emergency response, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
- 235 certified (L)
- Experience in school security, event management, or facility safety is highly desirable.
- First Aid, CPR, and AED certification (or willingness to obtain within a specified time frame).
Skills & Abilities:
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to make quick decisions in high-pressure situations.
- Knowledge of safety protocols, security systems, and emergency response procedures.
- Ability to supervise and manage a team of safety professionals.
- Proficiency in the use of security equipment (e.g., surveillance cameras, alarm systems, walkie-talkies).
- Familiarity with state and federal safety regulations and legal requirements.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays for special events and emergencies.
- Ability to stand or walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry equipment (e.g., portable departmental devices, barricades).
- Must be able to respond quickly to emergency situations and move or direct individuals as needed.
- This position involves a combination of office work and physical presence for program and event premises.
- Work may be performed indoors or outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Must be available to respond to incidents or emergencies during non-regular hours, including evenings and weekends.
IV. Compensation and Perks
This position will include wages of $29.50 - $31 per hour commensurate with experience.
