Phillabaum, Ledlin, Matthews, and Sheldon is seeking a Legal Assistant/Paralegal to join our team. Our practice consists of business/real estate transactions, trust/estates, civil litigation work, and bankruptcy.
We are looking for a detail orientated, initiative-taking individual to support a fast-paced law firm. This position will provide a broad spectrum of legal services to multiple attorneys. Responsibilities will include assisting with filing various court documents, drafting templates and regular client interaction. Although not required, the ideal candidate will have civil litigation experience, be familiar with e-filing in state/federal courts, calendaring/docketing, and various legal administrative duties.
The desired applicant will possess great organizational skills, ability to multitask, effective case management, a strong attention to detail, exceptional time management and a willingness to learn and help wherever needed. Legal experience is preferred but we will consider applicants with transferrable skills who strive for professional excellence.
Essential Responsibilities:
Provide administrative support to multiple attorneys through task-based direction, with minimal supervision
Case file management from start to finish. Including but not limited to, opening new client files, preparing, and organizing legal documents and correspondence, uploading filings in various counties in Washington and Idaho
Regular communication with clients and external parties to gather information, documents, and schedule appointments
Editing and finalizing litigation documents, and bankruptcy documentation timely, with accuracy
Effectively calendar and manage multiple deadlines across multiple attorneys
General administrative duties, such as answering phones, monthly invoice billing, and other tasks as needed
Skills:
Provide a high level of customer service to clients through email, phone, and face to face interactions
Familiarity with legal terminology, procedures, and protocols
Excellent case management and organizational skills, with an elevated level of attention to detail
Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills
Extensive computer and legal database software experience including Microsoft Suite and Corel Word Perfect
