Summary: The Staff Accountant supports the company’s financial systems and processes including expense management systems, department budgets, regulatory reporting, and accounting system. The Staff Accountant supports financial plans, federal and state compliance, maintains relationships with internal and external partners, collaborates with the logistics coordinator and the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable specialists, and works closely with the senior accountant.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintains financial reports, records, and reconciling general ledger accounts.
- Works with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable staff to support financial operations of the company. (These tasks include, but are not limited to, stuffing checks, reconciling and counting cash, and completing bank reconciliations.)
- Supports preparation of monthly general ledger entries.
- Supports monthly reconciliation processes
- Meeting processing and reporting deadlines.
- Meets agreed upon goals and objectives effectively and in a timely manner.
- Supports budget planning team to track department budgeting.
- Responds to information requests, reviews financial statements, and assists with audits.
- Ad-hoc reporting and accounting related data entry.
- Works with multiple departments to assist implementations and update budgets on a semi-annual basis.
- Assists with maintaining accounting system.
- Prepares special financial reports as requested by management by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends.
- Ensures all financial transactions within the company are accounted for and follow legal standards.
- Performs financial analysis.
- Supports budgeting and annual planning processes.
- Supports various audits as needed such as financial audits, reviews, 401k audits, and tax audits.
- Supports compliance activities as needed.
- Maintains electronic files.
- Maintain knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
- Assist with other accounting tasks as needed.

Education/Experience: bachelor’s degree in relevant field or 1 to 3 years related experience may be substituted for education requirement. Accounting background is preferred. Experience with Dynamics NAV or other accounting software. Understanding and general knowledge of the industry is a plus.
Language Skills: Highly developed written and verbal communication skills. Ability to create and write routine and complex reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Ability to communicate English in written and verbal form (Spanish helpful).
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide. Apply percentage discounts.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and proof of current auto insurance. Enroll in company’s DMV pull notice program.
Computer Skills and Software: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have above average knowledge of the following:
Software Programs - Experience using Microsoft Office applications. Experience with (any) Dropbox, Microsoft Dynamics NAV and DocLink are a plus.
Outlook: Set up calendar. Search emails. Create folders, share with others. Create appointments.
Excel: Create worksheets/workbooks and templates. Manipulate data, sort, and filter. Thoroughly understand functions. Format and create charts, tables, and graphs.
Word: Create, edit, save, and track documents, reports and changes. Review and use spell check and grammar
