Job description
Phinney Design Group (PDG) / Phinney Construction Services (PCS) is currently seeking to fill a Site Supervisor position to manage upcoming construction projects. The position will be on location in the Lake Placid, NY area.
The Site Supervisor is responsible for the daily management of construction projects and will primarily work on location at the project sites. This site supervisor will report to the Director of Construction Management Services and is responsible for the day-to-day oversight and administration of residential and commercial construction projects and represents the owner’s interests on a daily basis. This person has the ability to work on projects of varying sizes and complexity may be required to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide daily on-site supervision for project to ensure that all work is being performed in compliance with the Construction Documents (Drawings, Specifications, Shop Drawings and Contract Documents);
Review and thoroughly understand subcontractor agreements to ensure work is completed per contract with minimal change orders. Notify CM Team leadership of potential change orders or scope gaps;
Primary contact with subcontractors and workers with regard to questions on site and coordination issues between the trades;
Fill-out daily log including weather, sub-contractors on site, and description of events;
Primary responsibility for safety on the construction site. Administer safety program and ensure subcontractors are performing work in a safe and organized manner;
Primary responsibility for site logistics, including scheduling and coordinating material and equipment deliveries;
Perform on-going quality control inspections for all phases of construction. Notify Architect and Owner of any observed non-conforming work;
Develop and maintain two-week and four-week look ahead schedules for coordination with subcontractors on site;
Lead weekly subcontractor meetings to review upcoming work and any safety concerns;
Meet with Director of CM and other Phinney Design and Construction leadership on a weekly basis to provide updates on progress and discuss any issues/concerns relating to the project;
Assist in developing scopes of work and bid packages as needed, in conjunction with CM Team and Design Teams, for all phases of construction;
Assist with Service/Warranty items as required;
Assists with punch list administration and project closeout at the completion of the project;
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum 5 years (10 years preferred) of experience as a managing/supervising construction projects;
Minimum High School Diploma is required. Advanced degree (Bachelors, Masters or Associates Degree) in Construction Management, Architecture or Engineering is a plus;
Strong understanding and familiarity with construction processes and sequences;
Excellent written and oral communication skills, detail oriented, highly organized, self-motivated and works well under pressure;
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills;
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook), Microsoft Project, Procore and BlueBeam Revu (for viewing and editing PDFs) is desirable;
Hands-on Carpentry experience is a plus and may occasionally be needed to complete minor scope of work or to help fill gaps in scope between trade contractors;
