What are the responsibilities and job description for the STD Special Projects (Temporary) position at PHMC?
The Philadelphia Department of Public Health (PDPH) through its STD Control program located within the Division of Disease Control works to control the spread of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) in Philadelphia, including gonorrhea, chlamydia, syphilis, and HIV. The program provides walk in testing and treatment for STIs, works to control the spread of STIs by offering confidential services, including referral, testing, and treatment to the sex partners of people with an STI, provides education, urine-based screening, and treatment for gonorrhea and chlamydia in all Philadelphia public high schools, provides advice and consultation to doctors, nurses, and other community partners about the diagnosis and treatment of STIs, and provides free male and female condoms.
The Philadelphia Department of Public Health (PDPH) is seeking a part- time employee to assist the PDPH STD Control Program with phone interviews for patients recently diagnosed with Gonorrhea. This is a great opportunity for a motivated individual to work in a robust large urban health department. This individual will be working on and offsite as needed.
This is a grant-funded position; continuation of the position is contingent upon sustained funding.
*RESPONSIBILITIES:
- conduct interviews using standardized telephone scripts to enhance standard program surveillance
- assist with treatment verification via medical providers for individuals diagnosed with Gonorrhea
Other duties include:
- Conducting data entry and database searches to obtain current contact information for patient
The candidate will be expected to perform job duties both independently and as part of a group.

EXPERIENCE:
- Experience with data management software (MS Word, MS Access, MS Excel)
EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
- High School diploma
SALARY:
- This position is part time, $18/hour, 20 hours/week. .
