Job Description: Boiler Operator (Mechanically Inclined Position Overview: Phoenix General Contractors is seeking a Boiler Operator with strong mechanical aptitude to oversee the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of boiler systems at our project sites. On-the-job training will be provided, and we offer support for obtaining Boiler Operator Certification. This role is ideal for individuals with hands-on mechanical experience who are eager to develop specialized skills in boiler operations.Key Responsibilities:

  • Boiler Operation & Monitoring:
  • Operate, monitor, and maintain high- and low-pressure boilers, steam generators, and associated equipment.
  • Adjust controls to regulate steam pressure, water levels, and fuel supply to maintain optimal performance.
  • Perform routine boiler water tests and adjust chemical treatment as necessary.
  • Preventive Maintenance & Repairs:
  • Conduct scheduled maintenance and inspections on boilers, pumps, burners, valves, and piping systems.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and plumbing issues related to the boiler system.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and operational guidelines to prevent breakdowns and extend equipment lifespan.
  • Mechanical Troubleshooting & Repairs:
  • Identify and resolve mechanical faults in boilers, heat exchangers, condensate return systems, and auxiliary equipment.
  • Perform pipefitting, welding, and basic electrical work as needed to keep the system operational.
  • Work with other maintenance personnel to ensure seamless operation.
  • Compliance & Safety:
  • Maintain detailed logs and records of boiler operation, maintenance, and repairs.
  • Follow OSHA, EPA, and local codes regarding boiler safety and hazardous materials handling.
  • Participate in safety training, emergency response drills, and compliance audits.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Education & Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational or technical training in boiler operations preferred.
  • Minimum 2-5 years of experience as a boiler operator, HVAC technician, or maintenance mechanic (or equivalent hands-on mechanical experience).
  • Mechanical background with experience in troubleshooting and repairing industrial boilers, pumps, and piping systems.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of boiler systems, steam plant operations, and pressure vessels.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Welding, pipefitting, and electrical troubleshooting experience preferred.
  • Certifications & Training:
  • Boiler Operator Training Assistance: We support employees in obtaining their Boiler Operator Certification.
  • On-the-Job Training Provided: No prior boiler operator experience is required, but mechanical aptitude is essential.
  • OSHA 10/30 or other safety-related training preferred.
  • Additional Requirements:
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to diagnose and repair complex systems.
  • Willingness to work in industrial settings, including confined spaces and elevated areas.
  • Flexibility to work on-call shifts, weekends, and emergencies as required.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs, stand for long periods, and work in varying temperatures.
  • Will be a 24 hour operation. Holidays and all three shifts will be rotated among crew.
