Position Summary:
As Business Development Manager, one is responsible for overseeing and directing the activities of development and execution of the business vision, strategy, plans, and processes that will drive sales, increase revenue, expand markets, and accomplish financial objectives. This role involves identifying and capitalizing on new market opportunities, cultivating strategic partnerships, and leading a team to achieve ambitious sales targets. The Manager will oversee the entire business development lifecycle, from market research and strategy formulation to deal closure and post-sales relationship management.
Acting as a critical member of Senior Leadership, the Business Development Manager drives strategic initiatives to move the business forward to ensure Phoenix Manufacturing, Inc.’s flight critical aerospace components are delivered on time, on budget, to satisfied customers. Essential Functions:

- Establishes and implements the strategic direction of the company’s business development initiatives.
- Identifies and evaluates new markets, partners, channels, and customers. Develops a wide network of contacts to keep informed about current and future industry and market actions.
- Responsible for managing and growing inside sales, focusing on developing sales strategies, and achieving sales targets. Ability to travel to Tradeshows or Customer Meetings.
- Researches and analyzes the business environment, competitors, and customers to develop ideas for new products and services, pricing, and business models.
- Directs financial feasibility, proposal development, and negotiations for new business opportunities.
- Lead Quoting Lifecycle for New, Recurring, and Long-Standing Agreements (LTAs); including pricing, quote review, finalization, customer communications and submittals. Point person for key meetings, milestones, and internal team management.
- Conducts or acquires cost analysis for development projects; prepares or delegates preparation of schedule of project completion dates. Ensures that projects are completed within budget and in an economical manner.
- Collaborates with the company’s executive leadership to develop and meet organizational goals while supplying expertise and guidance on projects, operations, and systems.
- Identifies, recommends, and implements new technologies and systems to improve organizational processes and decision-making.
- Maintains knowledge of emerging technologies and trends related to the aerospace industry.
- Collaborates with Engineering, Operations, Quality, and other stakeholders to support business development plans.
- Provides leadership, coaching, and mentoring for personnel development and success of the team in achieving organizational goals. Direct supervision over Quoting Lead, & Outside Sales Team.
- Regular verbal or written communication to internal and external stakeholders, customers, or vendors utilizing both electronic and analog systems.
- Utilization of office machines including copiers, scanners, phone systems, computers (including email), and other standard equipment.
- Assist in the preparation and control of estimates, statistics, and reports regarding Business activities.
- Assist with industry and community outreach initiatives (i.e. School Tours, Industry & Career Fairs).
- Perform all tasks within Quality System Management (QMS) requirements.
- Lead and assist with high level customer issues, as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Experience, Education and Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Business, Engineering, or equivalent degree in a related discipline required.
- Minimum of ten (10) years or more of Business & Engineering experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment.
- Extensive engineering expertise in the areas of principles and procedures, tooling, prints, specifications, product maintenance, budgeting, and software products.
- Strong verbal, visual, and written communication skills with the ability to explain approach to all levels in the organization including key stakeholders.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Excel) or related software. Must have the ability to work with CAD/CAM Systems.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
- Understanding and ability to work within the ERP system (Global Shop).
- Adept at prioritizing multiple tasks/projects
- Ability to travel a minimum of five (5%) percent annually.

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. The noise level in the work environment is moderate. The pace is rapid and dynamic, multi-task oriented with short notice/changing deadlines.
