The portfolio is primarily comprised of several small, independently operated, previously family-run businesses in the light manufacturing and distribution sectors. The portfolio is a long-term holder of its investments/assets and plans to grow both organically and through acquisitions into the near future.


Position Summary

The Manufacturing Engineer provides engineering support for existing product in production, ensures a complete transition from new product development to production, deploys optimal manufacturing practices, and develops documentation and processes to safely meet production and quality targets. This position has a frontline role in process and product improvement in manufacturing and is responsible for best practices in manufacturing, supporting continuous improvement, and minimizing waste and tooling costs. 


Requirements 

The Manufacturing Engineer will have several Roles and Responsibilities including, but not limited to the following: 


  • Develop principal work standards and line balancing for productivity
  • Optimize workflow for productivity and safety
  • Standard Operation Procedure editing and generation for manufacturing use
  • Value Analysis Value Engineering:

o Cost savings opportunities

o Manufacturing improvements

o Cost avoidance

o Provide ROI

  • Lead and coach associates through KPI implementation and process improvement initiatives
  • Production time studies 
  • Update all documentation to current configuration and procedures and assist in generating documentation to facilitate rework, repairs, and conversions.
  • Execute LEAN manufacturing techniques and design
  • Evaluate, measure, and improve current production processes and methods
  • Aid in the training and development of personnel in manufacturing
  • Participate in and represent Manufacturing in Product Development Meetings
  • Verify that feedback from Pilot runs is documented and implemented. Verify that production personnel are familiar with configuration changes prior to production runs
  • Ensure document packages are complete and reviewed for manufacturability prior to release of product to production. This includes Assembly Drawings, Routers, Bills of Material, Test Specs, Test Procedures, Jigs and Fixtures and other requirement as applicable
  • Plan, execute, and meet capital projects objectives
  • Other duties and responsibilities as required. 

Must perform all work in accordance with all safety procedures.


Level of Authority: 

  • Redline and approve for temporary use current printed documentation in manufacturing pending ECO or Deviation
  • Modify manufacturing SOPs

Requirements


  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical or a related science.
  • Five or more years engineering experience; an understanding of electronics and electrical circuits
  • Minimum of 5 years’ with proven experience utilizing Six Sigma and/or Lean Manufacturing initiatives in production is preferred.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing techniques and process development
  • Analyze process capability and develop and implement improvement plans
  • Working knowledge of PC’s and web hosted applications
  • Proficiency in Solidworks and PDM software
  • Read, write, speak, and comprehend the English language
  • Strong analytical, research and problem-solving skills
  • Self-motivated, flexible, and a team player
  • Ability to learn quickly and work independently
  • Satisfactorily meeting job performance expectations for current position

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is typical of sheet metal manufacturing plant and requires hearing protection with ear plugs.
