Phoenix Paper Wickliffe LLC is searching for qualified candidates to assume the role of Process Engineer.
Summary: The Process Engineer assists with production, operations excellence, quality, product development, support of process optimization and cost reduction initiatives. The Process Engineer will work within the operational areas supporting production and supports projects that improve mill processes. This position is intended to understand mill processes, assist maintenance and production areas to maximize efficiency and productivity, and support capital projects as necessary. This is a salaried, exempt position and therefore, is considered “exempt” from overtime.
Key Responsibilities of the Process Engineer position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Initiate and/or provide technical assistance for production and maintenance issues, both daily and long term.
- Design, implement and optimize solutions in complex systems.
- Design, execute, analyze raw material/process trials.
- Utilize various techniques to resolve production and process problems.
- Utilize process information systems to extract/analyze data.
- Interface with operations and field services to optimize product quality.
- Optimize product cost/quality/productivity.
- Communicate with and take direction from Operations management.
- Participate as a team member in capital improvements.
General Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical, Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- One (1) to five (5) years of successful work-related manufacturing experience; pulp and/or paper industry or heavy manufacturing industry experience highly preferred.
- Possess strong organizational, interpersonal, communication, problem-solving and decision-making skills, as well as initiative and ability to delegate decision making and other responsibilities. Ability to handle multiple time-sensitive projects and issues.
- Must possess clear written and verbal communication skills; strong interpersonal skills; able to respond to, interact and collaborate with clients, vendors/suppliers and employees.
