Position Overview:
The Janitorial Technician is responsible for maintaining cleanliness, sanitation, and general upkeep of the San Bernardino County Sheriff Training Center in Devore. This role requires reliability, attention to detail, discretion, and the ability to work in a secure, professional environment alongside law enforcement personnel.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform daily cleaning and sanitation of classrooms, offices, restrooms, locker rooms, common areas, and training facilities
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, and dust surfaces and flooring
- Empty trash and recycling bins and replace liners
- Clean and disinfect restrooms, including toilets, urinals, sinks, mirrors, and fixtures
- Refill restroom supplies (soap, paper towels, toilet paper, etc.)
- Wipe down and sanitize high-touch areas (door handles, railings, light switches)
- Clean glass and interior windows
- Maintain janitorial closets and report low inventory of supplies
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, OSHA regulations, and site-specific protocols
- Follow checklists and schedules provided by the supervisor
- Communicate any facility issues (plumbing, electrical, damages) to management
- Maintain a professional demeanor when onsite, respecting confidential or sensitive materials
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Prior janitorial or custodial experience in a commercial, government, or secured facility preferred
- Must be able to pass a background check with the San Bernardino District Attorney
- Reliable transportation to and from the Devore training site
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs, stand for long periods, and perform physical cleaning tasks
- Must follow strict safety and security protocols
Working Conditions:
- Work performed indoors and outdoors, including during inclement weather
- Schedule may include early mornings, evenings, or weekends based on site needs
- Uniforms and ID badges provided and must be worn at all times on duty
