Purchasing and Inventory Management:
Small, employee-owned company specializing in the manufacturing of cutting-edge scientific instrumentation for the automotive and oil & gas industries is seeking a Material Planner/Scheduler to fill a 6-month temporary role. This would be full time, 40 hours a week and fully onsite.
You would play a key part in ensuring the smooth flow of production operations by managing inventory, scheduling, and coordinating the timely delivery of raw materials and components. The Planner will work closely with production, procurement, and other cross-functional teams to maintain efficient manufacturing processes and meet client deadlines. Additionally, the Planner will be responsible for the creation of purchase orders, monitoring inventory levels, and analyzing production schedules to ensure production goals are met efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Issue purchase orders for raw materials, maintenance, and repair items as required.
- Monitor inventory levels to ensure materials are delivered on time to meet production requirements.
- Maintain proper inventory levels to avoid shortages or excess stock, ensuring that current purchase orders and planned inventory fall between order points and surplus levels.
- Reduce purchased inventory by optimizing stock levels, contributing to cost savings.
- Design and implement new methods for conducting physical inventories to enhance accuracy and streamline the process.
- Design and implement labeling systems for raw components to facilitate first-in, first-out (FIFO) inventory management and improve the accuracy of inventory counts.
Production Scheduling and Coordination:
- Develop and maintain production schedules to ensure on-time delivery of scientific instrumentation products.
- Analyze and schedule production builds for sub-assemblies and finished goods based on demand forecasts.
- Work closely with the production team to prioritize orders and ensure alignment with available resources.
- Monitor production data to identify any potential delays, providing solutions to keep production on track.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Collaborate with purchasing, engineering, and design teams to ensure materials and resources align with production needs.
- Communicate with suppliers to ensure the timely delivery of materials and resolve any supply chain issues.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Continuously analyze and improve the planning processes to enhance overall operational efficiency.
- Support the implementation of best practices for inventory management, production scheduling, and materials handling.
Qualifications - (preferred but not required).
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a manufacturing planning or scheduling role, ideally in the scientific instrumentation or related industries.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Proficiency with enterprise resource planning (ERP) software or similar planning tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Pay: $25.00 - $27.00 per hour
