What are the responsibilities and job description for the General Counsel position at Phoenix Tower International?
Currently we are seeking an experienced General Counsel who will be responsible for day-to-day aspects of the Company’s operations in the U.S., including negotiating and implementing contracts with customers and negotiating agreements and contracts related to the lease of land and space in telecommunications infrastructure, as well as agreements regarding construction, sale, and usufruct of properties and wireless infrastructure.
FUNCTIONS:
- Review, draft, and negotiate contracts including; agreements with customers for the lease of space in PTI’s infrastructures, vendor contracts; contracts related to the lease of land and space in telecommunications infrastructure, as well as regarding construction, sale, and usufruct projects of properties and wireless infrastructure including master lease agreements, site lease agreements, ground lease agreements; built-to-suit agreements, new tower development agreements, among others
- Review and analyze ground leases, easements, tenant leases, surveys, title reports, and other property-related contracts.
- Assist in the preparation of and revisions to standard forms and PTI template agreements.
- Assist the Asset Management, Lease Administration, and Ground Lease Buyout Departments with legal advice and documents that are required.
- Prepare corporate documents required in the U.S. and maintain Company’s legal files for the region.
- Responsible for day-to-day legal operations in the U.S.
- Prepare Tracker and other requested reports.
- Obtain, review, and analyze documents including certificates and permits, including those issued by the Environmental authorities, Municipal authorities (construction and closing), Aeronautics (height and safety of telecommunication towers), Fire Department, etc.
- Serve as liaison with local external lawyers and represent the Company before counterparts, local lawyers, and operators.
- Exercise other duties or functions as required in the capacity of legal counsel to the Company.
- Other projects and duties as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Position works in a standard office environment. Standing, sitting, and walking required daily.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A Juris Doctor and an active license to practice law within the United States is required.
- Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in the areas of real estate transactional law (preferably obtained within a medium sized law firm with an institutional client base) is required.
- Highly polished drafting skills.
- Self-starter with initiative and demonstrated creative problem-solving ability.
- Ability to take ownership and resolve issues with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work collaboratively and thrive in a fast-paced culture.
- Strong work ethic, well-organized, and detail oriented.
- An ability to manage numerous projects simultaneously under deadline pressure.
