- Operates the school food and nutrition program within the established meal pattern, budget, and productivity standards in compliance with regulations and requirements. Supervises meal preparation, service, and clean up.
- Orders and prepared products in significant quantities to ensure all students are offered all established meal choices, and so as to minimize waste.
- Checks in an inspects delivered products before signing delivery slip, completes HACCP delivery data as needed.
- Ensures all meals are of the highest quality and meet or exceed USDA’s Child Nutrition Program Standards for cafeteria.
- Operates food service program in such a manner as to maintain high student participation in the National School Lunch Program (NSLP).
- Supervises cafeteria employee hours and daily tasks. Unlocks all refrigerators, coolers, and freezers; monitors and records temperatures to verify compliance with health codes and regulations.
- Assists Cooks with preparing daily menu items. Monitors lunch service; operates a register, runs food, prepares and serves food as needed.
- Counts cash drawer at end of day and prepares the deposit for the bookstore. Completes daily production sheet and makes any corrections. Verifies all equipment, surfaces, and utensils have been properly cleaned and sterilized before closing the kitchen and cafeteria. Creates work orders for malfunctioning and broken equipment.
- Prepares and submits all reports as required by the District, State, and USDA. Completes production records daily cafeteria. Coordinates health inspections.
- Prepares staffing schedule; trains new kitchen staff to prepare quality food items, to serve correct portions, to operate a POS register, and in all areas of HACCP and food safety in the main kitchen.
- Takes physical inventory monthly.
- Supports the relationship between the Phoenix Union High School District and the public by demonstrating courteous and professional behavior when interacting with students, parents, visitors, and school staff; maintains absolute confidentiality of work-related issues, client records, and school information; follows Governing Board Policies; performs all other related duties as required or assigned.

SUMMARY:
The school Cafeteria Manager oversees the preparing and serving of nutritional meals for students, teachers and staff in accordance with State and Federal guidelines. Supervises kitchen staff involved in cooking, preparing and serving meals. Reviews weekly menus and recipes and orders food items accordingly.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Training, and Experience Guidelines:
High School diploma or GED equivalent; AND four years of food service industry experience; two years of supervisory experience; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
License and Certification Requirements:
Must possess a ServeSafe Manager’s certification.
Must possess a Maricopa County Food Handler’s Card at the time of hire.
Must pass a Tuberculosis Test.
Must possess a valid Arizona Department of Public Safety IVP Fingerprint clearance card within 90 days of employment.
